Systemax
The US retailer, now Global Industrial, that bought Circuit City's brand, web business and customer information in 2009. Recorded here: 2 public prices.
Latest record 12 Aug 2009
Public prices involving Systemax
- Circuit City's client lists, valued on their own in Systemax's preliminary purchase-price allocation of the Circuit City IP and e-commerce purchase.
A preliminary allocation by the buyer of a realised court-approved purchase, not a separate sale. Status: bankrupt seller. Five-year amortization for the lists. Filed as the deal's value (unit contract), not as a price for one company's records: a customer file valued inside a brand purchase, which is the market's news rather than a holder's comparison (the rule of 19 Oct 2026 in prices.ts companyDataSales).
The payer's own page, Systemax Inc., Form 10-Q for the quarter ended 30 Jun 2009, note on acquisitions
$2.9 million for Client Listsper customer list of one company, as allocated by the buyer within a brand-and-data purchase
- Circuit City's intellectual property, internet-related property and customer information constituting its e-commerce business (brand, circuitcity.com, records of about 14 million web customers and a non-exclusive right to the 33 million store-customer Alpine Data), bought out of Chapter 11 by Systemax Inc.
Status: bankrupt (Bankr. E.D. Va. 08-35653, stores liquidated). Systemax was the stalking horse; the consumer privacy ombudsman (Lucy Thomson, Doc. 3318) counted about 14 million web customers covered by the privacy policy and recommended approval. The buyer booked it as an asset purchase, not a business combination. The store data was later resold exclusively to Micro Center for $350,000 (circuit-city-alpine-store-customer-data-micro-center-350k). Filed as the whole lot's value (unit contract), as the 19 Oct Rite Aid lot was, so a brand's price does not set the rate for a company's records alone.
The payer's own page, Systemax Inc., Form 8-K on completion of the Circuit City asset purchase (20 May 2009)
a cash purchase price of $14.0 million, plus a revenue share guaranteed to be at least $3.0 millionper sale of one company's brand, e-commerce assets and customer information
