Why labs pay for it
Models have read the public internet. To do real jobs they have to practise them, and practice needs a realistic workplace: a simulated company with real procedures, real tickets and real decisions. Labs and their vendors buy a company's records to build those workplaces.
RisingThe fastest-growing category of demand in Epoch AI's interviews with builders and buyers (January 2026). One vendor committed $1 billion to buying it over twelve months (9 October 2026).

- Email and chat archives
- Records that link across systems: a ticket to the change that closed it to the discussion around it
- A specialised trade: insurance, logistics, manufacturing, law, finance
- Many years of continuous history
- Records the company wrote about its own work
- Loose files and mailboxes with nothing tying them together
- A small team with a short history
- Customer or employee personal data that cannot be cleared
- Software terms that forbid export for AI use
Owning the files is not the right to license them. Customer contracts, software terms, employee notices and third-party material inside the archive each need checking before a buyer sees anything.
We act as the holder's agent: rights file first, then every buyer that fits hears of it at the same time, without your name until it is interested. You deliver the data to the buyer, and the buyer pays you.
